Start with any basic shape (eg, square, pentagon, hexagon). Mark off 5mm - 10mm points along the boundary and join one point with another. This is a good exercise for older students but younger students would benefit from being given templates. CLICK HERE for templates.
Discuss the internal and external designs with the students and the different structure caused by starting at different places along the perimeter.
